Ayan (he/him) is a trans artist, designer and activist who divides his time between Goa and Munich. His work explores identity and personal narratives by using a visual remnant or evidence of the contexts he works with. He is especially drawn towards patterns which to them communicates complex truths about the past, present and future.
He has worked with organisations like UNESCO, UNGEI, Gates Philanthropic Partners, AWID, Asia Pacific Transgender Network, Point of View and others. He illustrated Skin Stories, an online zine about sexuality and disability, for almost four years and his work has been published in a book by the same name. Apart from this he has also illustrated 31 Adventures in Science: Women Scientists in India by Penguin India.
Between 2017 to 2023, Ayan was the Creative Director of the trans-led collective Samabhabona.
He is also the Founding Director of Queer Art and Action: a South Asian collective working on crisis and art led intervention, advocacy for trans and queer rights.
